About us
At Home Furniture
We are a mother daughter team who own At Home with our husbands as silent partners. They have their own endeavors though we are all in a “furniture” family. Now, there are 26 members of our family who have worked in this industry; furniture, overall, has been good to us. We opened At Home eight years ago this last October and were both teachers at that time. We had, in fact, just gotten our Masters degrees (together) and were applying for credentials in Educational Leadership. We were excited, though, about opening the store and after a short time, realized that we had to give up our teaching jobs and concentrate on our home away from home here in the O’Brien’s shopping center. We knew absolutely nothing about business but we knew what we liked in the furniture world and we developed our skills (some) and are very happy to be in this business and meet and work with people we enjoy.
This business is one of being on the curve, of knowing what to buy, when and how to sell it while maintaining professional savvy and personal concern for the consumer. It can be tricky but we take our mission very seriously-to provide quality product for a very fair price and to do so with excellent customer service. Through the years, we have made changes. Our first warehouse was six storage units in our parking lot and at one time, we didn’t even have a cash register. We’ve grown a bit and learned many things. However, we still make mistakes and sometimes wish we had more time and experience in this retail world. One thing you can bet on is that we very much appreciate your buying from us and keeping it local. We also give credit for our successes to our friends who are our helpmates in the store. We look forward to serving you At Home for many years to come.
